Not everyone needs an expensive solution like Photoshop to touch up and edit some pictures. Not to mention that Photoshop is way overpriced anyway. So, stop worrying about saving up money so that you can buy Photoshop, because I have a far better solution for you. AVS Photo Editor is an inexpensive program that can help even the most technically challenged person to edit pictures.
When people open up Photoshop for the first time, people usually feel overwhelmed – this isn’t the case with The AVS Photo Editor. When you first open the photo editor, you will notice that the user interface is pretty clean. You will only see a few tabs at the top, which are all self-explanatory. You will also see all the pictures from your library at the bottom of the screen with all the program’s tools on the left hand side.
The best thing about the AVS Photo Editor is that all your tools are right there next to the picture. There’s no going through a bunch of menus like in Photoshop. Every editing tool you could ever want including filter presets, tone corrects, color balance, detail, watermarks, and more is all readily available to you. Really, there is no need to ever touch the menu section unless you are saving something, but even then there is a save function available in the left sidebar.
While I enjoy most of the things about the AVS Photo Editor, I do have a couple complaints. My first complaint is the fact that there is a lack of options when it comes to customizing the interface. It’s not a big deal, but it would be pretty handy to be able change the layout a bit, such as moving the tool sidebar from the left to the right, or maybe being able to collapse the bottom photo pane – simple customizations like that can go a long way.
My next complaint is that there seems to be no way that I can change what folder the bottom photo pane uses/opens. While it’s not a big deal or anything, it would be nice to be able to change from the default pictures folder because that’s not where I keep all my pictures. That, and I’m too lazy to go browse for the file I want to open.
You could say that the AVS Photo Editor is a simplified version of Photoshop and a more organized version of Gimp. While you won’t be able to use this program to do a bunch of crazy edits like Photoshop users do, you will definitely be able to get your family photo fixes and other edits done in a breeze. The program functions exactly how the company describes it and it looks good too. And, despite the few complaints that I have, it’s still an awesome software that I use on a regular basis.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive photo editing software, then this would definitely be a good choice. This program is well worth the price and you won’t be disappointed. Trust me, if it was crap, then I wouldn’t even be writing this review.
